Demand a budget for the 99.9%

Extreme inequality is concentrating power in the hands of a few, poisoning democracy, stalling growth, and fuelling division. At the upcoming Budget, the Government can stop the rot if they choose to tax the super-rich, end the cuts and protect public services.

We all want the same things: thriving communities, good jobs, safe homes and hope for the future. But across the UK, living standards are falling, schools and hospitals are crumbling, and millions face poverty—while billionaire wealth has more than doubled in a decade.  To tackle the problems we face at the next Budget, the UK government should:

1. Introducing a 2% wealth tax on the super-rich and clamping down on super-rich tax dodgers
2. Reforming Capital Gains Tax to close loopholes that make wealth pay more than work

3. Ending subsidies for fossil fuel companies wrecking the planet and ripping us off
4. Raising (not cutting) taxes on the tech giants
5. Taxing the banks’ excessive profits
6. Applying National Insurance to investment income — so that landlords pay the same taxes as their working tenants

Will it be more mega-yachts for the mega-rich, or more care for our communities?
